The highest peak in the area, The Cheviot at 815 metres or 2,674 feet in old money, lies slightly east and at the northern end of the most famous, the first long distance footpath in the UK, the Pennine Way running 270 miles from south to north.
The Cheviots are a range of rolling hills straddling the English and Scottish border between Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
