Peebles, The capital town of everything mountain biking in my humble opinion…
A town on the banks of the River Tweed in the glorious Scottish Borders.
A short distance from Edinburgh, Peebles has lovely scenery, cafés, all year round events and outdoors activities to keep everyone entertained.
It is famous for the Mountain Biking at Glentress Forest and Innerleithen.
An international centre of MTB trails created some 20 years ago. Well known to the mountain biking community they are some of the finest in the world.
The wide variety of technical terrain at Glentress will challenge the best MTB Marathon and Cross Country riders. Leg-burning climbs through fir forests, breathtaking views of the Tweed Valley, switchback descents, jumps, tabletops and fast flowing berms.
There are over 80km of purpose-made trails and a nearby centre in Innerleithen, it’s probably one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Scottish Borders.
Note: There are Ospreys to be seen over the Tweed Valley.
