Job Opportunity - Part Time Social Media Assistant

Join the Park Designs team

Park Designs is looking for a creative, organised and enthusiastic person to help us tell our story online.

We’re a colourful, independent gallery and design business based in the heart of Sheffield, with a strong connection to the Peak District, nature, creativity, wellbeing and the great outdoors.

We’re looking for someone who can help bring all of this to life through social media – someone who enjoys finding the story behind a picture, a product, an exhibition or a day in the gallery, and turning it into something people want to see, share and engage with.

This is a part-time role of around 8–12 hours per week, initially on a three-month trial basis, with a review at the end of the period.

The role will be Sheffield-based / hybrid, with some time spent in our gallery on Brown Street and some work possible remotely.

Part-Time Social Media & Content Assistant

What we're looking for

We're probably more interested in personality, curiosity and storytelling ability than a long list of social-media qualifications.

You might already be working in social media, marketing, photography, design or communications.

Or you might simply be someone who understands social media, has a good eye, enjoys taking photographs and videos, writes naturally and thinks “I could make that more interesting.”

We're looking for someone who:

  • Understands Instagram and Facebook
  • Can take a good photograph
  • Can shoot and edit basic video on a phone
  • Can write naturally and engagingly
  • Has good visual judgement
  • Understands what makes a story interesting
  • Is comfortable talking to customers
  • Understands Sheffield and, ideally, the Peak District
  • Has an interest in art, design, nature, the outdoors and/or wellbeing
  • Is organised and reliable
  • Can work independently
  • Isn't afraid to suggest ideas
  • Is happy getting involved and having a go

You don't need to be a marketing guru.

What matters more is that you are creative, curious, personable and dependable, and that you genuinely enjoy what Park Designs is about.

How much content?

We're looking for a consistent presence rather than a content factory.
As a guide, we'd aim for:

Every week
3 main social posts
3–5 Stories
1 short Reel or video

Regular responses to comments and messages
1 piece of content specifically designed to encourage people to visit the gallery or website

That's around 12–16 substantial pieces of content each month, supported by the day-to-day engagement and Stories.

The schedule can be flexible and should revolve around getting the right work done at the right time, rather than sitting at a desk for fixed hours.

Gallery activity, exhibitions, new products and events will naturally influence the workload.

Hours & working arrangement

8–12 hours per week

Sheffield / hybrid

Some time in the Park Designs gallery on Brown Street, Sheffield, with other work possible remotely.

We're happy to discuss how the hours are arranged. Flexibility around gallery activity and events is important.

The initial arrangement will be for three months, after which we'll review how things are going and discuss the future of the role.

What success looks like

We're not simply looking for more followers.

Success means Park Designs becomes a more visible, active and engaging part of the online Sheffield and Peak District community.

We'll look at things such as:
•    Are more people seeing our work?
•    Are people engaging, commenting, sharing and saving?
•    Are social-media visitors clicking through to the website?
•    Are our posts helping sell products?
•    Are people visiting the gallery because they've seen something online?
•    Are exhibitions and events reaching more people?
•    Are we building a genuine community around Park Designs?
And perhaps most importantly:

Are we telling better stories about the things we make, the places we love and the people we meet?

Why Park Designs?

Park Designs is an independent creative business with art at its heart.

We're interested in the relationship between creativity, nature, adventure, wellbeing and everyday life.

We're based in Sheffield, with the Peak District on our doorstep, and we're building something that brings together art, design, people, place and a little bit of kindness.

It's a small team, so this isn't a role where you'll disappear into a large marketing department.

You'll have the opportunity to make a real and visible contribution to how Park Designs develops.

You'll also have plenty of opportunity to bring your own ideas to the table.

Interested?

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send us a short introduction telling us:

Who you are, what you do and why you think you'd be a good fit for Park Designs.

Please also include examples of your work, social-media accounts or anything else you'd like us to see.

We'd much rather see what you can do than read a long formal application.
